About Alex Carling Training & Therapeutic Services

Are you looking for someone to help you with your child’s behaviour?

Do you ever feel like you’ve tried ‘everything’ but don’t have the knowledge, language, or experience to successfully deal with your child’s needs?

Or are you looking for ways to improve the key relationships in your life - with yourself, your partner, your children, and anyone else you feel deeply connected with?

You’re in the right place.

I’m Alex, and I offer online family counselling to parents and carers as well as psychotherapy and counselling for individuals, couples, and groups.

If you:

  • Are struggling to communicate with your child,

  • Need to talk to someone ‘outside your family’ and in confidence about some of the behaviours you’re witnessing in your child,

  • Or are experiencing difficulties with your own mental health and well-being or with behaviours you’d like to change,

I’m here to help you.

How I help

Parenting counselling online is the right answer for you if you are a parent or carer who’s worried about the young people in your home and would like the validation, reassurance, and extra skills and tools to make positive, lasting changes to your children’s behaviour.

Sometimes therapy might be the way forward for your child. But when you first get in touch with me, and especially if your children are young, I might recommend working directly with you – the adult – to help you influence their environment and reality, so you can start to feel connected with them again.

While I offer face-to-face counselling and family therapy from my practice in Hull, my trialled-and-tested online counselling service has proved successful for anyone who isn’t geographically close or does not feel comfortable with travelling or in-person sessions.

Working online isn’t able to meet everyone’s needs and involves an assessment between us both, to establish if it can meet yours.

And if you’re looking for help for yourself because you often feel;

  • distressed,

  • anxious,

  • stressed,

  • depressed, or are

  • struggling to cope, and

  • looking to talk to someone,

I can be that person.

Sometimes, we inadvertently distance ourselves from the emotional issues or life choices that cause us discomfort or pain. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Through my counselling and psychotherapy sessions (online or face-to-face) I can help you overcome past issues or recognise your own negative cycles and thoughts, so you can change the behaviours that don’t serve you and improve the relationships that matter to you.

 About me

Training and working as a psychotherapist has taught me that our history influences who we are.

But we can change.

Sometimes we just need a little help along the way, and there’s nothing wrong with that. I’m here to be the person that helps you. If you’ll let me.

As human beings, we all thrive on relationships. We all have a deeply-routed desire for connection, but not all our relationships always work the way we’d like them to. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of helping countless clients to make changes to the key relationships in their lives – starting with themselves.

Having had therapy during my training and beyond has given me the awareness, choice, and autonomy to only engage in what serves me well. It has taught me to accept and regulate my own emotions. And as my understanding and language developed, I became better at choosing when and how to communicate my own emotions.

Therapy has been the key to help me understand myself and better manage my relationships. And I’m proud to be able to give my clients the knowledge and the tools to do the same.

As a mum of two young children, I’m also passionate about helping other parents and carers to feel more connected to their children while navigating behaviours, feelings, and situations that can feel hard to understand and manage.
